• Incidence/prevalence:
  • Lead levels > 10 mcg/dL found in 15% of children < 6 years old
  
  
• Risk factors:
  • Permanent or part-time residence built before 1960 with peeling or chipping paint
  • Siblings or playmates with documented lead poisoning
  • Adult residents in home with lead exposure from jobs or hobbies
  • Residence near active lead smelter, battery recycling plant, or other industry likely to release lead
